Market Hall was opened in 1860. Known locally as the Buttermarket
because it used to sell only butter
and cheeses, it now houses over
70 different market stalls.

High Town in the centre of Hereford is a pedestrian shopping area boasting many major high street stores; M&S, River Island, Boots,
Accessorise, Waterstones and Smiths. The black and white house in the
centre is younger than Putson Manor and is open to the public.
  Every Wednesday and Saturday throughout the year a Farmer's Market is
held in High Town selling fruit and vegetables, drinks and dairy products,
eggs, meat, poultry, game and plants.

The Maylord shopping precinct has another rich collection of high street favourites such as Next, Topshop,
TK Maxx, Mothercare, Bodyshop
and Laura Ashley.


Church Street runs from the
Cathedral Close into High Town and
has a collection of exclusive shops
selling jewellery, clothing and
wonderful food.

The Mousetrapcheese Shop sells locally produced cheese from their dairy in Monkland.
